Would you eat this Deep Dish Pizza Pie

Ingredients:

 

For the Crust:

 

2 ½ cups all-purpose flour

 

1 tsp sugar

 

1 tsp salt

 

1 cup warm water

 

2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast

 

2 tbsp olive oil

 

For the Filling:

 

1 lb ground beef or Italian sausage

 

1 cup pizza sauce

 

1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

 

½ cup cheddar cheese (optional)

 

½ cup sliced mushrooms

 

½ cup sliced green bell peppers or jalapeños

 

Pepperoni slices

 

Toppings:

 

Additional shredded mozzarella

 

Extra pepperoni and vegetables for garnish

 

Instructions:

 

Prepare the Dough:

 

Mix warm water and yeast in small bowl. Let sit 5 minutes until foamy.

 

Combine flour, sugar, and salt in large bowl. Add yeast mixture and olive oil, mix until dough forms.

 

Knead dough on floured surface 8-10 minutes until smooth. Cover with damp cloth, let rise 1 hour.

 

Cook the Filling:

 

Brown ground beef/sausage over medium heat. Drain excess fat.

 

Stir in pizza sauce, cook 5 minutes. Set aside.

 

Assemble the Pizza Pie:

 

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C).

 

Roll dough into large circle, press into greased deep baking/springform pan. Trim excess.

 

Layer: mozzarella, meat filling, mushrooms, peppers. Repeat layers as desired.

 

Top with extra cheese and toppings.

 

Bake:

 

Bake 25-30 minutes until crust is golden and cheese bubbles.

 

Cool slightly before slicing.

 

Serve warm with salad or garlic bread.
