Cabbage Soup with Chicken and Pork

16 ounces boneless skinless chicken breast

1 pound country-style pork ribs (boneless)

2 bay leaves

1 large chicken bouillon (like Knorr)

1/4 teaspoon cumin

8 glasses of water

1 medium cabbage (chopped (about 9 cups))

3 medium carrots (chopped)

2 large leeks (chopped (whites only))

2 cloves of garlic

1 yellow pepper (chopped)

1.5 oz brandy (skip if you don’t drink alcohol)

3/4 teaspoon kosher salt (and black pepper to taste)

1/2 teaspoon turmeric or akiot such as Sazon (optional for color

 

Instructions

Chop the meat into small pieces.

In a large saucepan, combine chicken, pork, water and bouillon, bay leaf and cumin and bring to a boil, then simmer for about 15 minutes over medium heat.

Add vegetables and remaining ingredients.

Reduce to low, cover and cook for about 45 minutes
