A Man’s Casserole (Hearty, Cheesy, Meat-Loaded Comfort Bake)

🧾 Ingredients

Meat Layer

1½ lbs (700g) ground beef

1 small onion, diced

3 cloves garlic, minced

1 teaspoon salt

½ teaspoon black pepper

1 teaspoon paprika

1 teaspoon Italian seasoning

1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Casserole Base

3 cups cooked pasta or sliced cooked potatoes

1 can (10.5 oz / 300g) cream of mushroom soup

1 can (10.5 oz / 300g) cream of chicken soup

½ cup sour cream

½ cup milk

Cheesy Topping

2 cups shredded cheddar cheese

1 cup shredded mozzarella (optional but amazing)

Crunchy Finish (Optional)

1 cup crushed crackers or fried onions

👨‍🍳 Instructions

Step 1 – Cook the Meat

In a large skillet over medium heat, brown the ground beef with onion and garlic. Drain excess grease.

 

Season with salt, pepper, paprika, Italian seasoning, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir well.

 

Step 2 – Mix the Creamy Base

In a large bowl combine:

 

Cream of mushroom soup

Cream of chicken soup

Sour cream

Milk

Mix until smooth.

 

Step 3 – Build the Casserole

Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C)

Grease a 9×13 baking dish

Spread cooked pasta or potatoes on the bottom

Add seasoned beef on top

Pour creamy mixture over everything

Sprinkle cheeses generously

If using crunchy topping, mix crackers with melted butter and sprinkle over the top.

 

Step 4 – Bake

Cover with foil and bake for 25 minutes.

 

Remove foil and bake another 15–20 minutes until bubbly and golden.

 

Let rest 10 minutes before serving.
