Garlic Shrimp

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ lbs (700 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 4 tablespoons butter (or olive oil)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 2 tablespoons lemon juice (freshly squeezed)
  • 1 tablespoon chopped parsley (for garnish)
  • Lemon wedges (for serving)

Instructions:

  1. Prep the Shrimp:
    Pat shrimp dry with paper towels and season lightly with salt and pepper.
  2. Cook the Garlic:
    In a large skillet, melt 2 tablespoons of butter over medium heat.
    Add the minced garlic and cook for about 30 seconds to 1 minute, until fragrant (don’t let it burn).
  3. Cook the Shrimp:
    Add the shrimp in a single layer. Cook for 2 minutes per side, or until pink and opaque.
  4. Add Flavor:
    Stir in the remaining butter, red pepper flakes (if using), and lemon juice.
    Toss shrimp to coat in the buttery garlic sauce.
  5. Serve:
    Sprinkle with fresh parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges.

Serving Ideas:

  • Over pasta or rice
  • With crusty bread to soak up the sauce
  • Alongside steamed vegetables
